BERT VAN MANEN GIVES HIMSELF $7000 TAX CUT, BUT LEAVES FORDE BEHIND

June 21, 2018

Today, Bert Van Manen and the LNP voted to give themselves a $7000 tax cut, while the majority of Forde got left behind.

Today the LNP’s personal income tax cuts for high income earners passed the Parliament, with Bert Van Manen’s vote.

Data from the independent Australia Institute has shown that Mr Van Manen’s vote will give Forde workers tax cuts that are below the national average.

In contrast, the electorate which gets the biggest tax cut is Malcolm Turnbull’s own wealthy electorate of Wentworth, in Sydney.

Today has revealed that Bert Van Manen would rather vote to give himself a $7,000 tax cut than stand up for battlers in his community.

Not only has Bert Van Manen backed Malcolm Turnbull’s constituents over his own, he’s now put himself over his constituents!

The tax cuts passed today, with the support of Malcolm Turnbull’s ever faithful Pauline Hanson, will help the top end of town and leave battlers behind.

Under amendments moved by Labor, three in every four taxpayers in Forde would have been better off than they would be under the LNP.

Now that Mr Van Manen and the LNP have stopped those amendments, Forde residents will only get these tax cuts by voting for a Labor Government.

All up, about 73 000 local workers in Forde, or 78 per cent, will get a bigger, better, fairer tax cut under Labor.

Our community deserves better than an MP that would rather see money in his own pocket than stand up for the people he’s elected to represent.

It’s about time that Bert Van Manen and the LNP fought for our community.

A FAIR GO FOR AUSTRALIA
