TURNBULL GOVERNMENT CHANGES RIP $15.4 MILLION OUT OF CENTRAL QUEENSLAND SCHOOLS

January 31, 2018

New funding arrangements for schools brought in by the Turnbull Government will mean $15.4 million less for state schools in the Central Queensland electorate of Capricornia over the next two years.

Across Queensland, Mr Turnbull’s changes will rip nearly $500 million out of schools.

That means 4765 less teachers across Queensland. That’s the equivalent of almost 3 teachers lost from every school.

This will be devastating for Central Queensland, and yet not one word from the Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry about these changes.

It’s clear that properly funding education in Central Queensland just isn’t a priority for Ms Landry and Central Queensland Senator, Matt Canavan.

Instead they’d rather give a $65 billion tax cut to multinationals and the big banks.

Federal Labor will restore the funding that the Turnbull Government is ripping out of our schools.

It is just another example of Michelle Landry serving as Canberra’s voice in Central Queensland, not Central Queensland’s voice in Canberra.

The education of our children is too important to an MP who cares more about protecting her own job than safeguarding our children’s future.

Michelle Landry needs to start standing up for Central Queensland, or Central Queensland will find someone who will.
